Administrative Changes Regarding Documentation Required Under the Film Incentive BC Tax Credit Program
Please note that BC Film + Media has made administrative changes regarding the documentation required under the Film Incentive BC Tax Credit program.
As CAVCO has eliminated its Declaration of Canadian Citizenship, BC Film will no longer be requesting this document as proof of Canadian citizenship for key creative personnel or non-BC Canadian producers. Instead, BC Film will require applicants to confirm that they have verified the citizenship of the Canadian point personnel and producers at the time they apply for their Eligibility Certificate. When applying for a Completion Certificate, BC Film will require a copy of the CAVCO Part A Certificate. For those productions that are not otherwise eligible for the CAVCO Canadian Production Tax Credit, other proof of citizenship may be required.
To avoid delays in receiving the Completion Certificate, we encourage all applicants to apply for their FIBC Eligibility Certificate and their CAVCO Part A Certificate as soon as they start production and have assembled the required documentation rather than waiting to complete the production before applying for certification.
The Schedule A – Declaration of BC Residency is still required for all producers and producer-related personnel that are Canadian and BC-residents.
The application form and checklist have been updated to reflect this change.
