BC Film + Media Provides Travel Grants to BC Genie Nominees
The Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television is pleased to announce that BC Film + Media will once again provide a travel grant for our B. C. Genie Nominees. The grant is for eligible Genie nominees, residents of British Columbia and travelling to the Genie Awards Gala in Toronto.
"The 17 Genie Nominations for British Columbia filmmakers are evidence of the talent and skill of our filmmaking community. Once again, we are pleased to support the attendance of British Columbia's nominees at the awards ceremony", said Rob Egan, President and CEO of BC Film + Media.
This year, British Columbia celebrates Genie Award Nominations in a host of categories: Performance (4), Sound Editing (5), Editing (2), Best Documentary (2) Music-Original Score (3), Art Direction / Production Design (1), Animated Short, for a total of 17 nominations.
The 22nd Genie Award Broadcast Gala will be held at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre in Toronto on February 7, 2002. The show will be broadcast of CBC Television at 8:00 pm with host Brian Linehan.
The Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television is a national non-profit association designed to promote, recognize and celebrate exceptional achievements in the Canadian film and television industry. Created in 1979, the Academy today unifies close to 4000 industry professionals.
