Professional Skills Development Internships for 2002/03
BC Film + Media is pleased to announce the filmmakers chosen to participate in this year's BC Film + Media Professional Internship Program. A total of 19 producer, writer and marketing interns will get on-the-job training in the independent film and television industry in British Columbia.
Throughout fiscal 2002-03, interns will 'earn while they learn' for up to 20 weeks, working with mentors who are active, established industry professionals. Internships are available in the areas of feature film screenwriting; writing in the story department of a television series; drama or documentary producing; or marketing / distribution.
"BC Film + Media is committed to this unique program that offers skills development opportunities for emerging talent while providing much needed support to small and medium sized production companies in the province," said Rob Egan, President and CEO of BC Film + Media. "We are thrilled to be able to increase the number of internship opportunities this year."
In this 15th year of the program, BC Film + Media has focused additional resources in partnership with the independent production community to enable double the number of internships placements than in previous years. There will be seven producer interns, eight writers working on their screenplays with a senior screenwriter mentor, three writers working in a television series story department and one marketing/distribution intern. A detailed list of this year's internship teams is attached.
BC Film + Media is a privately administered non-profit society established in 1987 by the provincial government with a mandate to expand and diversify the cultural industries of film and video in British Columbia.
