Vancouver, BC - CBC in British Columbia is pleased to announce that Rob Egan, former President and CEO of BC Film + Media, is joining CBC Television as the Senior Manager, Business & Planning, effective May 16th. In his position at CBC, Rob will play a key role in the management of television in the BC region. He will be responsible for strategic planning and business operations, and will work with the Regional Director to identify and implement overall priorities for CBC Television in BC, in both its network and regional roles. He will also participate in program planning and project management.

“Rob brings an outstanding mix of experience, leadership and perspective to CBC Television,” says Rae Hull, Regional Director for BC and Senior Director of Network Programming. “He knows the local independent production community, the television funding system across the country, and he knows the province – both as a home-grown British Columbian and as a leader in the many capacities he’s served. He also plays a mean guitar!” BC Film + Media Chair Michael Francis, commenting on Rob’s departure, says “I have been impressed with his integrity and his commitment to both our clients’ well-being and the development of our staff. He leaves a hole which will be very difficult to fill. We are delighted that he will still be a resource to the local independent television production industry.”

Rob is an accomplished leader with over 20 years of experience, primarily in the areas of policy and planning as well as media and the arts. Prior to his term as President and CEO of BC Film + Media, Rob spent seven years with the BC government as Assistant Deputy Minister for Culture, Heritage, Recreation and Sport and as Assistant Deputy Minister, Cabinet Planning Secretariat. Earlier in his career, he was station manager at the campus-community radio station, CFUV-FM in Victoria. Rob holds a B.A. from UBC and an M.A. from McGill University, both in Political Science.
